Ryan’s artistic endeavours started young and developed quickly, earning him titles like RAW Artists Wollongong Photographer of the Year (2014), Australian Geographic’s Junior Nature Photographer of the Year (2015, 2016), as well as recent commendations from Australian Photography Magazine. Sue has enjoyed more than 30 years of photography experiencing a wide range of techniques and subjects, including nature subjects landscape, astrophotography (with a telescope), plant macro and birds, and award-winning underwater photography. She likes to integrate the technical aspects of photography to pursue unique effects and ideas.
Sue's long time career in scientific research and diagnostics has progressed to providing 15 years of education at TAFE and University.
The opportunity to combine teaching and share her love of photography with other people has been a rewarding experience with Wollongong Photography Group.

Coast Track, Royal National Park - Leaving from Bundeena,walking to the coast - 1:00pm - 2 hours
Join Sue Curtis walking from Bundeena along the northern section of the Coast Track to "The Balconies" with spectacular views of the coastline and hopefully see some whales on their northern migration.
The track is easily negotiated through native vegetation and sandstone landform. One-way distance is 1.5-2(max) km.
Note: your return walk will be outside the session time.
We will use close-up photography to capture native vegetation, rock details, and natural features, with wide-angle for sweeping landscapes. A telephoto lens will be useful if we can spot some breaching whales in the distance.

Post Processing and Editing - Participant's Photos - ZOOM meeting - 2:00pm - 2 hours
In this ZOOM session, Sue Curtis will demonstrate live edits and processing of your photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
Participants will submit a photo prior to the session, watch the basic processing steps and more advanced photoshop techniques such as actions, layer masking, and removal of objects. Questions and discussion will be encouraged.
Even if you don't have access to these software platforms, seeing how the process works will provide an overview of the endless possibilities of post-processing.

Beginners Class: Boonerah Point Jetty, Lake Illawarra - 1:30pm - 3 hours
Boonerah Point Jetty has been the subject of many noted photographers. This is your chance to learn to navigate and understand aperture, shutter speed, and ISO operating your camera in manual mode rather than auto.
The waters of Lake Illawarra, birdlife, and shore will provide plenty of subject material.
After the session, if you choose to stay longer, sunset is at 4:53pm
Intermediate Photography Refresher Class - Illawarra Grevillea Park, Bulli - 10:30am - 3 hours
This Wollongong Photography Group class will be hosted by Sue Curtis at the Illawarra Grevillea Park Bulli.
This garden is only opened a few times a year. You can enjoy the wonderful array of native plants including grevilleas (of course) and the animal life that are attracted to the flowers and secluded quite spots.
We will use this natural setting to brush up on your intermediate level photography skills for every day sensational photos.
This would be idea for people getting backing into photography, or want to progress from a beginner level or would like to explore a particular skill or technique. This course is designed for anyone who wants to up-skill their photography to intermediate level.
