Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Wollongong .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

    The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

    It was good because it enabled me to see what I could do with a different location with different ambient light sources. Sue encouraged me to try and get some foreground with my shots and gave me some technical details on how to do that better. Being a small group she was able to get to pretty much everyone. I have a couple I am very happy with. I would do this again but maybe by myself or with only one or two other people. It was a small group but we still found ourselves getting in the way of each other from time to time. The are out on the point where we could spread out a bit more was good in that respect.

    Sue has enjoyed more than 30 years of photography experiencing a wide range of techniques and subjects, including nature subjects landscape, astrophotography (with a telescope), plant macro and birds, and award-winning underwater photography. She likes to integrate the technical aspects of photography to pursue unique effects and ideas.

    Sue's long time career in scientific research and diagnostics has progressed to providing 15 years of education at TAFE and University.

    I took this shot on an afternoon seascape/ sunset photo walk with the Wollongong Photography Group, we were lucky with the clouds and the beautiful mountain sunset. This photo is a multiple exposure with ICM, these 2 fishermen were in just the right spot and I also liked the lines from the water, beach and mountains. Such a chilly but gorgeous afternoon out!

    After hiking with friends, I walked around Daecheong Lake in South Korea and saw the overlapping of the lakeside grass and mountain ridges. It was the season when the ice was melting, and there was even a glacier floating on the water that had been frozen all winter. Although the weather was cold, I wanted to capture the coming of spring in a photo.

    I enjoy macro photography highlighting parts of everyday object wee usually overlook. In this picture, I noted the opening of the white rose petals to reveal the reds and oranges of the stamens and pistil against a golden glow formed from the light diffusing through the scene, like the opening of a painted paper fan.
